The Community Foundation of Broward named my partner Jill Ginsberg its Professional Advisors Council Member of the Month for July and published a Q&A with her that’s worth reading.

The Professional Advisors Council is the Foundation’s group of estate attorneys, CPAs, and financial advisors who work with it on their clients’ charitable giving. Jill’s connection to the Foundation goes back years. When she was president of Meals on Wheels, the organization set up a permanent fund there so its projects would keep getting funded long after any one board had turned over.

The Q&A covers her practice, too. Jill is board certified in elder law, and most of her work is guardianship and helping families avoid guardianship. As she puts it in the interview: “Planning for incapacity and special needs, as most of my practice focuses on guardianship and the ways to avoid a guardianship.” That planning usually starts with advance directives — a durable power of attorney and a health care surrogate, signed while you still have the capacity to sign them.

The interview also gets into her art collecting, her favorite Hollywood coffee spots, and the one word her colleagues would use to describe her (“Intense” — I can confirm).

Congratulations, Jill. Well deserved.
